Block Producer - Code of Conduct

Block Producer - Code of Conduct

Mandatory: All Block Producers Must Sign the XPR Network Code of Conduct to Join Mainnet

Dear XPR Network Community,

As we continue to scale the XPR Network, it's critical that we maintain a secure, professional, and transparent environment — not only for developers and users, but also for the validators responsible for producing blocks and maintaining consensus.

To that end, the XPR Network Block Producer Code of Conduct is now a mandatory requirement for any entity running a block producer on mainnet.

This document outlines the shared standards and expectations for all BPs — ensuring that those responsible for the health of the network are operating in good faith, with proper infrastructure, and with a commitment to the long-term success of the chain.

📜 Why This Matters

Block Producers play a foundational role in XPR Network. They are responsible for:

  • Validating and producing blocks

  • Maintaining uptime and infrastructure reliability

  • Participating in governance and proposal voting

  • Serving APIs and helping onboard new projects

  • Representing the network publicly and engaging with the community

With this level of responsibility comes accountability. The Code of Conduct is designed to ensure that all BPs are operating under the same baseline of:

  • Legal and ethical compliance

  • Security best practices

  • Public transparency

  • Fair and honest competition

  • Respectful community conduct

✅ What’s in the Code of Conduct?

The document is structured around seven key pillars:

  1. Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Frameworks
BPs must operate within the bounds of their jurisdictions and avoid any unlawful activity.

  2. Network Security and Performance
Infrastructure must meet minimum performance requirements and stay up to date with core software releases.

  3. Transparency and Accountability
BPs must clearly disclose their identity, organization, and affiliations, and provide contact points for communication.

  4. Participation and Governance
BPs are expected to vote on proposals, engage in testnet activities, and stay involved in discussions about network development.

  5. Fair Competition and Anti-Collusion
Manipulating votes, bribing for support, or undermining other BPs is strictly prohibited.

  6. Community Support and Education
Block Producers should actively support the broader ecosystem through education, engagement, and community initiatives.

  7. Enforcement and Reporting
Violations may be escalated to the XPR Network Consortium for investigation, and serious breaches may result in removal.

✍️ How to Sign the Code of Conduct (Required)

All BPs must sign the document on-chain using XProtect to be eligible for mainnet participation. Signing costs 1 XPR and takes just a few minutes:

🧾 Signing Instructions:

  1. Go to https://xprotect.org

  2. Connect your XPR Network mainnet wallet

  3. Navigate to Tools → Sign Documents

  4. Upload the PDF version of the Code of Conduct

  5. Sign the document (transaction cost: 1 XPR)

  6. Notify Alvosec, ProtonNZ or admin in the Validators chat on Telegram

Once signed, your submission will be publicly verifiable and reviewed by the XPR Network Consortium.

❗ Consequences of Not Signing

Failure to sign the Code of Conduct means you will:

  • ❌ Be excluded from mainnet BP rotation

  • ❌ Lose access to governance and proposal voting

  • ❌ Risk review and possible delisting by the Consortium

We view this Code as a foundational agreement — not a hoop to jump through. It reflects the values and operational standards we expect from anyone who helps secure and grow XPR Network.

🛠️ What Happens Next?

Once you've signed the Code of Conduct:

  • Your BP will be added to the official signers list.

  • You'll be eligible to produce blocks on mainnet.

  • The Consortium will continue to monitor for compliance and engagement.

If you're a BP who hasn't signed yet, now is the time. This is a shared commitment to a stronger, more professional, and future-ready XPR Network.

We appreciate your support — and look forward to building with those who stand by these principles.
